As a novice Baccarat player, I'm still a bit confused about when to draw. Can someone explain the rules around this?

Hi there @DariusKinkaid, 😊

In Baccarat, the decision to draw (or take a third card) isn't made by the players themselves but is determined by a set of predefined rules

The game follows strict guidelines based on the total points of the first two cards dealt to both the Player and the Banker.

Here's a breakdown:

Player's Hand:

  • If the total is 0-5, a third card is drawn for the Player.
  • If the total is 6 or 7, the Player stands.
  • If the total is 8 or 9, it's considered a "natural," and both the Player and Banker stand.

Banker's Hand:
If the Player stands, the Banker follows the same rules as the Player (draw on 0-5, stand on 6-7).

However, if the Player draws a third card, the Banker's action depends on the value of the Player's third card and the Banker's total:

  • Draw if the total is 0-2.
  • If the total is 3, draw unless the Player's third card is an 8.
  • If the total is 4, draw if the Player's third card is 2-7.
  • If the total is 5, draw if the Player's third card is 4-7.
  • If the total is 6, draw if the Player's third card is 6 or 7.
  • Stand if the total is 7.

Remember, in Baccarat, the goal is to get as close to 9 as possible.

Tens and face cards count as 0, and if the total exceeds 9, only the last digit counts (e.g., a total of 15 counts as 5).

So, while you're placing your bets and watching the action unfold, keep in mind that the drawing process is automatic, based on the game's rules.

Cheers! ✌
