First off, don't worry if you're finding it hard to understand the Baccarat board initially, you're not alone!

It can seem intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty straightforward.

Alright, now let's dive in!

At a Baccarat table, you typically see 3 sections on the board.
These are:

  • The "Bead Plate"
  • The "Big Road",
  • The "Three Derived Roads" (which include the Big Eye Boy, Small Road, and the Cockroach Pig).

Now let’s go through each of them in more detail:

1. The Bead Plate: This is the simplest part of the board. It's just a record of the result of each hand - Player, Banker, and whether it was a tie.

In your image, the circles colored blue represent the Banker wins, red circles represent Player wins, and green circles are for the Ties.

Some boards also indicate if the win was a natural (a two-card 8 or 9) or if it was a pair.

2. The Big Road: This section records the same information as the Bead Plate but presents it differently. Instead of going in a straight line, when the winning "hand" switches (from Player to Banker or vice versa), a new column is started.

This way, long streaks of Banker or Player wins are easier to see.

For example, if you have a long vertical line of blue circles, that means the Banker had a long winning streak.

3. Three Derived Roads: These are the most complicated to understand, and not all players pay attention to them. They're derived from the Big Road and show patterns or trends in the game.

These include the Big Eye Boy, Small Road, and Cockroach Pig.

The Big Eye Boy starts recording after the first entry of the second column on the Big Road.

If there's a change in any column compared to the previous one (like, if the new column is longer or shorter), a red circle is marked. If there's no change, a blue circle is marked.

The Small Road is similar, but it lags two columns behind the Big Road.

The Cockroach Pig is even more delayed, lagging behind the Small Road. It follows the same principles as the Big Eye Boy and the Small Road.

These 3 sections work together to provide a comprehensive record of the game.

The more you understand these boards, the better you can spot trends and make educated decisions in your game.

But remember, Baccarat is still a game of chance, and the boards are merely records of past results, not predictors of future ones.

One last tip: always remember to familiarize yourself with the specific color and symbol codes of the board you're dealing with because these can vary slightly between different casinos or even different tables.

You can always refer to Peter Nairn’s complete guide on how to win at baccarat. It contains all the details on the boards and how you can use them to your advantage.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your Baccarat journey!
