Great question! When it comes to the exact number of hands in a baccarat shoe, it's not as straightforward as one might think.

So first, let's define a shoe.

A "shoe" in Baccarat is the device that holds the cards being used for the game. Usually, a shoe will hold somewhere between 6 to 8 decks of cards.

If you do the math, that's roughly 312 to 416 cards (52 cards per deck).

Assuming each hand uses 4 cards (2 for the player and 2 for the banker), that would theoretically give you around 78 to 104 hands

However, this isn't set in stone because the number of hands dealt per shoe can vary widely depending on several factors.

These include:

  • the specific flow of the game
  • how the cards fall
  • when the cut card shows up (which signals nearing the end of the shoe).

So, while we can get a rough estimate, the actual number can fluctuate based on the game itself.

Hope this helps and best of luck at the Baccarat table! If you want to learn more about the game's ins and outs, check out our complete baccarat guide.
