Aztec Twist Slot Features
- Aztec Theme. This online slot game has an Aztec theme. The reels are set on a large stone structure that’s placed in the middle of the screen and on either side you can see dense jungle foliage. All of the symbols that appear on the reels are designed to fit the theme; some of them are colourful Aztec-style masks, for example.
- Audio. The slot’s soundtrack does a good job of immersing you in the Aztec jungle setting. As you play the slot, you’ll hear the sound of drums being played, as well as noises being made by a number of jungle-dwelling animals.
- Cluster Pays. Aztec Twist is played on an extra large grid with five reels and eight rows. There aren’t any set paylines. Instead, you win by forming clusters of matching symbols. For symbols to be in a cluster, they have to be horizontally or vertically adjacent to one another. A cluster pays out if it contains four or more matching symbols.
- Respins. Whenever a single row is full of the same symbol, all of those symbols plus any instances of the same symbol on any adjacent rows lock in place. You’re given a respin with all other symbols respinning. If any new symbols add to the winning cluster, you’ll get another respin. You keep getting respins until the cluster stops growing. Every row full of winning symbols gives you a random multiplier of between x2 and x5. If you earn more than one multiplier, they’re added up before they’re applied to your win.
- Free Spins. Getting three free spins symbols on the reels earns you eight free spins. Two cylinders appear: one to the right of the reels with a starting multiplier of x10 and one to the left. During this feature, a special golden mask symbol can appear. Whenever it does, it expands to fill the row it’s on: you’re then given two extra free spins and the left cylinder spins to reveal a multiplier of x1 to x8, which is multiplied by the right cylinder’s x10 multiplier. You’re then paid this amount and can receive between x10 and x80 times you bet. Each time this happens, the right cylinder’s multiplier increases: it goes up to x20, x30, x40, x50, x100, x250 and x500. Once a multiplier value on either cylinder has been used, it’s removed and can’t be used again until the next time the free spins round feature is triggered.
- Symbols. The turquoise symbol with an orange hand on it is the slot’s wild symbol. It fills in for all of the regular symbols and as well as helping you win, it can also extend winning clusters and make your wins more valuable. There are ten regular symbols: five shapes with coloured gems in the middle and five ornately decorated masks, each one a different colour. All gem symbols offer the same payouts, while the masks offer the same higher payouts. For the top payout of 40x your bet, get a cluster made up of twenty-one or more matching mask symbols.
