Henderson is an interesting city in Nevada. In fact, Henderson is quite close to our good old shining Las Vegas but brings much more than just gambling to the table.

Henderson has a rich history and is one of the cities that really fancy culture and entertainment. The fact is, having spent quite some time here, I can say the city is full of amazing things to see, do, and enjoy. In this guide, I compiled my experience and adventures, so you can start having fun right away.

When I first set foot on Barley's floor, I was impressed by this (perhaps) unique combination of cool things.

It's like a beer factory where you can be a malt wizard juggling with the latest slots in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.

Speaking of which, Barley’s Casino offers close to 200 great-value slots and video poker machines to try your luck in the company of your favourite cold beer. 

Or sit back and relax while having fun at the casino's inviting sports book lounge.

The minimum bets are quite low, so it's a nice choice for newcomers and those who want to play more for fun rather than for the big win.

Overall, Barley’s Casino is an amazing place to experience your favorite games and beverages. The food bar is mouth-watering, and it offers a generous menu and interesting promotions (we'll talk more in the Dining Options chapter.

The atmosphere is nice and beautifully accompanied by grungy vibes. If you dig this combination, Barley's will suit you well.

Emerald Island Casino

That's an artfully named lil’ gambling paradise found in Downtown Henderson. Also known as 'The Jewel of Henderson,' Emerald Island is…Quite the gambling island.

Its huge area offers a wide range of entertainment. It is equipped with William Hill Sports & Race Book terminals and countless top-notch gaming machines.

Ever heard of Konami? Well, the dudes are known not only for Silent Hill but also for their quality gaming machines.

As such, Emerald Island features slots, video keno, and video poker machines from these fine dudes, also including hard-hitters from IGT, Aristocrat, and Ainsworth, among others.

And the cool thing is that the casino constantly adds the newest slots and advantageous promotions.

Rainbow Club Casino

Jokers Wild is an interesting establishment in Hendeson, Nevada. They combine friendliness and chill vibes with the excitement of playing at wacky and super colorful gaming machines.

Wanna spin the reels or go for a round of video poker? By all means, go ahead at one of their close to 500 machines.

Table games aficionados can enjoy low minimum bets, such as 3-Card Poker with $2 minimum bets, $3 blackjack, and even 25¢ roulette on weekdays.

Keno players are in for a literally electrifying atmosphere as they get to pick up numbers on the casino's selection of 8 illuminated Keno boards.

Henderson has a rich history, known for its magnesium supplies during World War II. Across the years, Henderson has evolved a lot, becoming a hotspot for culture and entertainment - lots of malls, movie theater complexes, concert venues, and restaurants, not to mention the casino resorts.

Even if you are gambling or planning to gamble in Vegas, it's a nice idea to take some time to visit Henderson, as the two cities are very close to each other.

Clark County Heritage Museum

Get a taste of the rich history and culture of Henderson at the Clark County Heritage Museum.

The Ethel M Chocolate Factory

If you're a sucker for chocolate, that makes two of us. I'm talking Willy Wonka and his choccy factory over here. 

Well, except for the kidnapping part. You still get to take a tour and witness the magic of chocolate-making, sample delicious treats, and stroll through the beautiful cactus garden, but without encountering any Oompa Loompas.

Trust me, the combination of chocolate and nature is absolutely divine.

Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area

Lace up your hiking boots and venture into the wilderness at Sloan Canyon. This natural wonderland boasts stunning rock formations, ancient petroglyphs, and incredible vistas. 

It's a hiker's paradise, so don't forget your camera and water bottle. The Sloan Canyon Petroglyph Site is one of the most important and beautiful cultural resources in southern Nevada.

It is a melting pot of ancient history, so expect mesmerising rock art panels and almost 2000 designs depicting native cultures.

The Water Street District 

Water Street is the main road in Downtown Henderson. The place, alongside its water main, date back to 1941.

As the years passed, its development declined, as other parts of the city became the new focus. However, a project designed to revitalise older areas of the city included Water Street on its list.

Thanks to that, the area became a hub for beautiful projects and activities.

Nowadays, the newly-renamed Water Street District is full of amazing murals made by many talented artists.

Plus, the area houses parades, festivals, and car shows, among many other events.  It's a splendid place to visit and soak in all the good vibes and eccentric shows.

The Rio Secco Golf Club

If you're like me and have always wanted to make drifts with a cute golf cart, you can do so at the Rio Secco Golf Club.

Well, I don't really know if you're allowed to do that, but you can still have an amazing experience doing, you know, normal golf things.

In other words, if you have time and feel like exploring Henderson's surroundings, this amazing golf course is located in the Seven Hills neighbourhood.

Nestled amongst the canyons and plateaus of the Black Mountains of Nevada, Rio Secco is often viewed as one of the best courses in Vegas.

This couldn’t sound more awesome since you can catch views of the Strip if you stop a bit from swinging the club and admire the surroundings.

The par-72 course was designed by renowned golf course architect Rees Jones. The establishment offers high-quality services, including professional and helpful staff, as well as mouth-watering dishes at their Janelas Restaurant.

Lake Las Vegas

I know, I know, it’s not really in Henderson, but Lake Las Vegas is a stone’s throw from the city. 

It is a superb, man-made location that quickly became a tourist attraction thanks to its splendid views and diverse activities.

Things like kayaking, paddle boarding, and even yacht cruises will fill your mind with peace and relaxation, recharging your gambling batteries.

The place is like a tranquil and soothing oasis, highlighting one of the many reasons why the United States has such beautiful sceneries.

So, if you are into rock, blues, or country, you got to the right place, as Club Madrid houses renowned artists and performers.

For that, I'd argue it is important to make a few preparations before busting through the revolving doors of a hotel.

First, study the location. If the establishment does not already have a casino, or you got another casino in mind, consider how close you want to be your main destination.

If you want to be in the heart of the action, choose an establishment that's closer to the casino or even one that's as close to the Vegas Strip as possible. 

If you want a quieter atmosphere, go for a resort farther away from the hustle and bustle.

Then, compare amenities. Take a look at the facilities each hotel offers. Some may have on-site spas, pools, fitness centres, or even entertainment venues. Determine what amenities are important to you and choose accordingly.

With that in mind, let's talk a bit about a couple of top-rated resorts and hotels in Henderson.

Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa

One of the best casinos in Henderson is housed by one of the best resorts in the city. Green Valley is ridiculously popular and sought after, and for good reasons.

If you're travelling with your family, the hotel has plenty of cool things for all of you. You and your loved ones can opt for a movie theatre, enjoy arcade games, watch your kids have fun in a dedicated play zone, or let the hotel's certified staff look after them throughout the day.

If you're looking for a place to rest your lucky muscles while enjoying deluxe treatments, Green Valley Ranch Resort is for you.

The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa

Want to feel like a pharaoh in his own oasis? The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa is just the right place for that.

As the name suggests, the resort is super close to Lake Las Vegas and offers a really beautiful view, coupled with deluxe accommodations.

The establishment combines relaxation and excitement, offering a tranquil escape from the sometimes tiring gambling action.

Aside from being a stone's throw from the Las Vegas Strip, Westin Lake offers quite the fancy accommodation; the rooms are elegant, spacious, and well-lit, which will be of use after a day of spoiling yourself with a spa treatment or after an intense workout at their on-site gym.

Other amenities include a cool golf course and an intriguing restaurant that offers Mediterranean-style dishes.

Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa

This is another option for gamblers looking for a lakeside hotel. The Hilton lies in a beautiful location that offers plenty of things to see and do.

Now, some people found the hotel's staff and service attentive and professional; others were not that satisfied with the establishment's dining experience, but that's subjective.

Personally, I had a pleasant and relaxing time. If their buffet is not to your liking, there are other dining options in Henderson that will surely cater to your needs.

The largest casino resort in Henderson is quite an affordable accommodation option as well. Alongside its lively casino and diverse entertainment choices, Sunset Station offers comfy rooms and a variety of dining options.
