The UK Gambling Commission has suspended the licenses of two operators for failing to fully integrate the GAMSTOP self-exclusion service into their websites.
LICENSES SUSPENDED
On Friday, UKGC announced the immediate suspension of the licenses held by Dynamic, trading as Prophet, and Sportito. Both operators were found to be violating the order UKGC released in January that all online operators must integrate GAMSTOP into their services by March 31.
In January, the Gambling Commission notified its licensees that they must participate in GAMSTOP, a free online service that offers gamblers the opportunity to self-exclude from gambling with iGaming and online sports betting companies that are licensed in Great Britain for a specific period of time.
SPORTITO’S LICENSE SUSPENSION LIFTED
Following the suspension of its license, Sportito has eventually integrated the service and the Gambling Commission has lifted the suspension. However, the review of its activities is still ongoing.
Regarding Dynamic, its license will remain suspended until the Gambling Commission is satisfied that the operator has included the GAMSTOP scheme into its services.
Neil McArthur, The Gambling Commission’s Chief Executive, commented on the matter: “Self-exclusion is an important tool to protect vulnerable consumers, which is why we made it compulsory for all online operators to be signed up to GAMSTOP by March 31.”
This year, the Gambling Commission has already issued £27 million in penalties, including a £13 million fine to Caesars, a £11.6 million fine inflicted on Betway and a £3 million fine imposed on Mr Green.
Moreover, UKGC has suspended the licenses for numerous failures of three other gambling operators, such as Stakers Limited, Addison Global Limited, and Multi-Media Entertainments Limited.
