Top 10 Best FIFA Teams to Manage image

New Year and new FIFA games have been a thing for decades. For people who can’t wait to get into the new career mode, you’re in luck, as your options are seemingly endless.

You have immense options and customizations with 700 clubs to choose from and 15,000 players to build your ultimate dream team not to mention 30 leagues to participate in.

With so many options at hand, it’s understandable that new or even advanced players would like to have some recommendations. The church of EA never disappoints when it comes to variety.

We will discuss the best teams to manage depending on your skills and the type of challenge you want throughout your game.

Let’s get a look at the 10 best FIFA 23 teams to manage.

10. FC Barcelona

The 2023 iteration of FC Barcelona has a lot of perks for rookie players and even some sweet deals for veterans coming off of the older games. With La Liga F coming to FIFA, all Spanish clubs and stadiums get a much-needed boost that fans have been missing since FIFA 17.

Camp Nou is licensed for this year, which is a major boon for Barca fans. The starting 11 are exciting, with Ronald Araujo especially getting +6 which makes the underrated player more balanced.

In fact, the entire team has a good combination of senior players and fresh young talent, making experimenting with different 4-3-3 builds more exciting. With a sky-high budget of $189 million, the sky is the limit!

9. Newcastle United

The Newcastle squad may not be the immediate smash hit you’re looking for, but the potential here is next to none. The club was also recently bought, which means you have a ton of money to make adjustments and sign players as you wish.

With a starting budget of £68 million, your aim is to take down the Premier League and go up to the Champions League with your ultimate team. Bringing in Alexander Isak as the striker, along with keeping Miguel Almiron on the left wing, could be a viable strategy as well.

Brand Exposure is your top priority, so this style of signing big players will also add to your Board Expectations.

8. RFC Seraing

RFC Seraing logo

RFC Seraing probably isn’t a team you actively look for, but they compete in the Jupiler Pro League and have a more relaxed board that doesn’t demand an arm and a leg from players. Players who want little to no interference during their career but don’t want the ease that Newcastle brings with a ton of money can go for RFC Seraing.

The team is still in a competitive league, so you’re not completely off the hook. You have all the Board Expectations set to very low and a bonus by the name of Simon Elisor with decent stats and good potential.

Keeping the 1-4-4-1 lineup, you can put Antoine Bernier and Sambou Sissoko to good use to have a good defence but also to be able to attack quickly from the flanks.

7. Boca Juniors

Players looking to terrorize Argentine football can look to Boca Juniors, one of the most successful teams in the country. They do have crazy board expectations to manage, which could make for a difficult progression for people who like the challenge. An easier time can be had with River Plate as they have a higher budget when compared to Boca Juniors.

The starting eleven are pretty even, but you can always experiment with local talent and youth development. This brings us to the Board's Expectations of the team.

Everything from Domestic and International Success to Brand Exposure and Youth Development is critical to the Board while Finances are set to High. Players looking to be dynamic managers can definitely give this club a go.

6. Charlotte FC

MLS is one of the more unique parts of FIFA 23, and Charlotte FC could be your gateway to dominating the league early on. Being a fledgling young club, you have an almost unlimited agency with Charlotte when it comes to building your dream team.

The starting eleven remain unimpressive, with players already angry about them being either ranked too high or too low.

However, they are nothing to scoff at either, as they have average stats, and your build can incorporate both local talent and target international talent to gain prestige, as you will start out with 1 in both Domestic and International Prestige.

A lot of work is cut out for you, but it can be equally as rewarding to see the team grow slowly and steadily.

5. Paris FC

PSG is one of the most notable European teams known across the world for their prowess. However, it isn’t the only team to come out of Paris. In Ligue 2 lies the often-overlooked Paris FC, which boasts average stats but an overall upward curve.

The battle of influence rages on, with many fans vehemently supporting the club against PSG and its all-star striking cast and incredible resources.

Players looking to dominate French football with a grassroots team that focuses on local talent can look to Paris FC as their choice.

They also have Ilan Kebbal and Morgan Guilavogui, who remain underrated in the game. Focusing on the youth academy and letting local talent rise could be a slow but incredibly rewarding experience when going for a team like this.

4. Real Oviedo

A road to glory run can be one of the most satisfying career mode runs in FIFA, and Real Oviedo is one of the most tragic stories that deserve a happy ending. Founded in 1926, the Spanish club quickly gained momentum and crawled up all the way to La Liga, but financial troubles hurt them all the way to Tercera Division.

Currently, the club resides in LaLiga2, and this is the perfect time for you to come in and restore the club back to its former glory. In keeping with the theme, you might also recruit former players like Saúl Berjón and Santi Cazorla to fill up the midfield and slowly accumulate the old squad.

The current team is geared more toward attack with a 4-4-2 formation, and the club has little money, but rebuilding it can be hard but rewarding work.

3. Everton FC

Everton FC logo

Everton has had a similar story just in the context of English football. In the 60s, they had an impressive run with two league titles under their belt. However, their board and management have failed to sign newer talent, which led them to stagnation. This is where you come in and restore the once-legendary club.

You’ll almost always be strapped for cash, and any significant amounts will have to go straight to the new stadium being built. Players won’t readily sign on with you, and if they do, they can still be poached by bigger teams.

The team starts with a 4-5-1, which needs changing according to your playstyle as well. For what it's worth, you do have promising players like Ben Godfrey, Vitaliy Mykolenko, Anthony Gordon, and  Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

2. Union Berlin

The battle for German football is going to be a hard-fought one. With giants like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund out and about, Union Berlin would have to consistently punch above their weight like they have been doing recently. Can you keep that up and stand against the all-star cast these teams have?

The team has potential but needs sizable investments to take on the Bundesliga and other European titles.

You have a relatively small $19.6 million in your transfer budget, so you won’t be signing big players in the early game, but steady progress and keeping the Board happy will see you pose a threat to the German giants with ease and even take over.

Going against Hertha BSC, the current rivals of Union Berlin, is also going to be entertaining, to say the least.

1. Malaga CF

Malaga CF logo

Malaga CF has been struggling for a few seasons, and they were very close to being demoted from LaLiga2. Taking over this once-promising team after a decade of neglect and building it up is going to be hard. However, you will have plenty of agency, and local talent could be your ticket to get Malaga back to the Champions League and win.

Taking the club out of debt and managing the board is going to be an arduous task but a fulfilling one. Add to that the bragging rights you get when you share your saves. Domestic success is critical, while youth development and finances get high priority.

You have a young team with good defense and promising strikers like Rubén Castro, who need the training to get up to stardom. Restoring the club’s honor aside, you can also settle the scores with Sevilla FC, their rivals.

Those were our top picks for FIFA 23 career mode teams that can give you a healthy challenge. Managing them will come with unique dilemmas and make your time with them that much more memorable.

Imposing self-made challenges has always been a big part of FIFA games. This goes for the players who wish to relive history with clubs that were once at the very top but have fallen by the wayside since.

Which team are you picking? Got any favorites from the list? We wish you all the best in your team’s rise to the top!
