Nolan Dalla, a Las Vegas-based writer, sports gambler, and Chipy.com expert contributor, has accomplished something no one has ever done. He just wrapped up the prestigious 2023-24 Westgate Casino NFL Super Contest with multiple entries finishing inside the top-ten. Dalla also won two separate contests designed to test NFL handicapping skills.
Prior to the past football season starting in early September, Dalla purchased seven contest entries costing $1,000 each for a grand total of $7,000 -- which was the maximum allowable investment according to the contest rules. The competition required each participant to pick exactly five games per week against the pointspread. Those who finished with the most correct selections collected prize money.
The Westgate Super Contest (previously known as the Hilton Super Contest) is the longest-running and most prestigious football handicapping contest in the world. It's been running every year since 1988. The competition tends to attract many professional bettors, including many of the top football handicappers in the world. However, it's open to anyone who wishes to post the $1,000-per-entry fee and try their skill at picking games against the pointspread.

There were 1,301 entries in this year's handicapping competition. Incredibly, all seven “NOLANDALLA” entries finished in the top-50. Three of the Dalla entries finished in the top-10, including taking 2nd place, 4th place, and 6th place. According to reports, no previous contestant has ever placed so many entries in the top five percent of the field. Dalla's combined winnings amounted to a hefty $190,000:
- $25,000 (Week 10-12 Contest -- solo First Place)
- $57,692 (Main Contest -- two-way tie for Second Place)
- $20,622 (Main Contest -- solo Fifth Place)
- $11,865 (Main Contest -- six-way tie for Sixth Place)
- $75,000 (Second-Half Contest -- solo First Place)
Dalla had a strong chance to win another $150,000 in prize money and would have done so had he picked the final game of the NFL regular season correctly. However, the Dalla pick (Miami Dolphins +3) fell to the Buffalo Bills, who won the game 21-14. Even with that painful defeat, Dalla's best entry finished with a 58-30-2 record (65 percent wins). All seven entries ended up at 60 percent wins or higher. In football handicapping, any win percentage above 55 percent is considered successful. Percentages at 60 percent or higher are exceedingly rare, especially in a season-long competition.
"The Super Contest is a really big deal if you're a serious sports bettor," Dalla said after collecting the prize money. "To compete among the best in the world is very exciting, but then to do so well and actually finish in the money in so many places is the ultimate thrill. It was a great run, and a satisfying ride."
